It is sold and talked about as a 45 lb bar in the United States, and the roughly one pound difference is close enough to ignore for programming but not close enough to ignore if you are chasing a number in a kilogram meet. A women's Olympic bar is 15 kg, or 33.07 lb. Both figures are IWF standards, so any bar sold as an Olympic bar and not hitting them is either mislabelled or is a training bar.
Standard 1 inch bars are the exception, and this is the single most common source of an incorrect training log at home. There is no governing weight for a 1 inch bar. A thin-walled 5 foot bar can be 15 lb and a solid 7 foot one can be 25 lb, and the packaging often does not say. If you own one, put it on a bathroom scale once and write the number on the bar in marker. What do shaft and sleeve diameter actually change?

Knurl marks are the smooth rings that interrupt the knurling on a bar shaft, and they exist as a grip reference rather than as decoration. There are exactly two spacings in use and they differ by 100 mm. On an IWF weightlifting bar the inner edges of the marks are 910 mm apart, which is 35.8 inches. Bushings or bearings: which sleeve do you need?
A bushing is a plain sleeve of bronze or composite that the barbell sleeve rotates on, and a bearing is a set of needle rollers that does the same job with far less friction. The distinction matters in exactly one situation: a lift where the bar must spin quickly under your hands while the plates keep turning, which means cleans, snatches and anything else where the bar rotates fast in the rack position.

What is barbell whip, and do you want it?
Whip is the elastic flex and rebound of a loaded bar shaft, and it is a function of shaft diameter, shaft length and steel properties rather than a feature that gets bolted on. A thinner, longer shaft whips more. A 27 mm deadlift bar at 2,320 mm whips a lot, which is why it lets the bar bend before the plates leave the floor and shortens the effective range of a deadlift. Olympic or standard: how do you tell which bar you own?
Measure the sleeve, which is the thicker end section that the plates go on. If a tape reads about 2 inches, or 50 mm, you have an Olympic bar.
